Camille tries to blog

Camille is always a fashion designer and sometimes a model. She's the owner and designer of Coexist, a young, high-street RTW line for women and a couture line under the same name. She considers graduating with honors from the Ateneo de Manila University last 2009 and being included in Preview Magazine's 10 Designers to Watch For list in 2010 her greatest achievements. Most recently, she was also named one of Preview Magazine's 10 Best Dressed Women for 2011 and one of MEGA Magazine's 10 Most Stylish for 2011 (the youngest on the list).

Last April 2011, Camille decided to give blogging a try. "Try" being the operative word. So far, so good! Since then, she has been named international brand, Mango's newest "It Girl"--making her the face of Mango's SS '12 online campaigns. She was also chosen as a finalist for the Best Fashion Blog category at the 2011 Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards.

This 2012, she hopes the world will not end.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

The title of this post can’t get any more straightforward than this. If you’ve been following my tweets, you might have already known that I’m currently in the process of moving my blog to a new platform (Wordpress) and upgrading a few things while I’m at it. My blog has been experiencing a few hiccups for quite some time now, even more now that I’m about to move (how timely!) so you can just imagine how I’m itching to reveal to you my new and improved blog! The launch was originally set to be done on my first year anniversary date (April 2) but due to a few technical problems, the launch didn’t push through. Now though, we’re finally ready!!!! BUT, before we start the celebration (hold your horses), I have to tell you that my URL itscamilleco.com may be down for a couple of days while we’re finalizing the move. In the meantime, you can still access my blog through itscamilleco.tumblr.com.

A word to the wise, keep checking itscamilleco.com from time to time for the big reveal! I HAVE SO MANY HUGE THINGS LINED UP FOR YOU! April is a big month you see—new blog launch + first year anniversary + my birthday! It’ll be the biggest blowout ever!

To keep you excited, here’s a sneak peek of my new blog logo. :) See you soon!

Romantic

I’m pretty sure my love for romantic tops like this came from my mom. When she saw me in this top, I could already tell she was making a mental note to steal it from my closet.

Must.Hide.It. Har har!

I kid. :) I love sharing clothes with the women in my family! If only we have the same shoe size, we’d have the most versatile closet! It would be perfect!

Now on to my look, I call this look my “hindi makabasag-pinggan look”. The pieces I have on are so feminine and romantic that I seem a little too dainty and fragile. Nevertheless, I love them! Everything I have on here are simple yet elegant—the type of items you’d keep for years and possibly pass down to your kids.

Laundry Day

I’ve always wondered how girls tie scarves around their heads and make those perfect ribbons. It takes me forever to get it right and when I finally do, I almost always mess it up in just a few hours. Solution? Fake it! Thank God for ready-made headbands like this!

It’s always refreshing to pair denim on denim. If you want to try this look out for yourself, mix 2 different shades of denim together. Different textures and shapes are great too!

To add a little more dimension to my look, I wore a leopard print top that goes perfectly with my headband’s snakeskin print. You can clearly see my color palette for this look—all blues, grays and browns.

Clean and Crisp

I got a huge package from Ministry of Retailright before I left for Europe. When I opened it, my heart literally skipped a beat (okay, not really. But you know what I mean!) The items are all so pretty! Here’s one of them—a crisp white cape in the perfect silhouette and fabric. I paired it with my white pair of shorts to make it seem like I’m wearing a suit. White on white always looks so sophisticated! Add a little gold and you’re all set!

Changed Lives

As you all probably know, I’m currently in Europe primarily for my shoot for Mango. I’m sure you know this is part of my prize as the new Mango It Girl for SS’12. But aside from this, I also won a sizable amount of money to be donated to the charity of my choice. I chose to split the money to 2 donations—one to Unicef’s CDO relief operations and the other to an organization close to my heart, Cottolengo Filipino.

I’ve mentioned before when I was asking for your help in choosing which organization to give the money to that I wanted an organization that isn’t that well-known. I know that there a lot of organizations with great causes out there but not all are given the chance to get noticed and reach the people who can help. I think Cottolengo Filipino is one of them. I’ve gotten the chance to get to know this organization during my senior year in Ateneo. I went there for my immersion for my Theology class. Cottolengo Filipino is non-stock, non-profit, non-government religious organization run by the Sons of Divine Providence Congregation. Cottolengo houses and rehabilitates special children with multiple disabilities (mental and/or physical) who were abandoned, surrendered and neglected. Meeting the kids a few years ago and hearing how they got to where they are now has touched me deeply. The experience is one that I will never forget. It saddens me to learn that some parents would do such horrible things, some of which are the causes of these kids’ disabilities. A few of them are in such crucial conditions that they require oxygen masks on 24/7. I can only hope that more people get to know Cottolengo and the kids.

The photos below are a few of the snapshots my friend Karla took during our immersion. Look at those kids’ faces. They’re so pure and innocent.

Special mention to my favorite, Gilbert. Gilbert suffers from multiple disabilities because his mom tried to have him aborted. His fingers and toes were not properly formed even! But even so, he’s persevering. He can even hold his cup on his own!

This Lenten season, I hope you can help someone out. It’s not always about donations. You may also pay Cottolengo a visit. This would not only be good for the kids, but also for yourself. These kids can change you. Trust me.

Happy Colors

Remember my outfits here and here that I wore for a magazine shoot? This is the 3rd one.

I was going for a young smart casual attire. The top I’m wearing here is actually my mom’s that I picked out for her with the intention of potentially stealing it one day from her closet.

If you’re in a fashion rut at the office, tops like these are great for updating your corporate wardrobe. It’s conservative and appropriate but isn’t boring. Try yummy colored shoes too!

Look For The Rainbow

Forever dilemma of a fashion blogger: OH NO! THE SUN’S GOING DOWN! SHOOOOOOT!

It’s been so long since I last piled on this much accessories. I wanted to create a focal point in my outfit through my necklaces since the rest of the pieces I’m wearing are pretty basic and casual.
